Manufacturers are legally obligated to report these kinds of products to the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment. The BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, in turn, sends this information to the Poison Centres of the German federal states ("Laender") for medical emergency advice in case of poisoning. The monitoring authorities of the federal states check whether or not manufacturers comply with their notification obligations. Since February 2025, they have been able to check the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment platform “Produktmitteilungen-online” (product notifications online) to see whether notifications on certain products are available. This allows them to identify non-compliant manufacturers.
